Gains in muscle strength will aid in your technique, posture and driving distance, however there is a down side. You will find that you are over hitting your shots, and your actual scores may well get worse.

Aim to do any strength training in your off season, if you have one, or if you play regularly throughout the year, aim to build-up all over body strength slowly, (one weights session every four days), ideally the day after you play.

Most men will find that their strength is ok for their game, however their flexibility will often need some work. Women on the other hand, often will require some strength work, especially in muscles of the forearms and rotary (oblique) muscles of the trunk.

You should aim to strengthen all major muscle groups, and develop all-round muscle balance. The home/office workout will benefit you. Good golfers will often have excellent hand grip. Work on improving your hand grip, especially on your weaker arm.

Flexibility exercises carried out on a daily basis, or at least before and after you play, should make an improvement in your game.

Correct technique and improvements in your game, will often be a result of practice on the fairways. Watch, learn and ask, see how others are playing their shots, the clubs they use and try to implement them into your game. Asking for help from a golf instructor or competent player will certainly improve your game.
